Value Parts Checker

List the skills in an optional or Xcel routine and see whether it meets the level's value-part requirement and difficulty limit, event by event.

Value-part counts and skill letters come from public USAG documents (2026-30 Development Program cheat sheets, the Xcel Code of Points) and NAWGJ judging aids; confirm with your coach and the current USAG Code of Points. This is a practice and planning aid, not an official judgement. Judges decide the score at the meet.

Event
Level 7 beam

Example routine. This is a sample Level 7 beam list so you can see how the checker reads. Change the level or event, or clear it and add your own skills.

Add a skill

Type the skill. If it's in Stickd's USAG value table, its letter fills in for you; you can still change it.

Value parts

Level 7 needs 4A+3B per event

Source: 2026-2030 Cheat Sheet: Levels 6/7/8 (DP Optional Appendix 8)

You have 1A + 3B

Add 3 A

A higher-value skill can fill any of these slots.

Difficulty limit

Highest letter listed for Level 7: C

A and B elements. Bars: any number of the selected C's (cast to HS with ½ turn; clear hip, stalder or pike sole circle backward to HS, including with ½ turn to regular grip). Beam and floor: all C dance elements. Allowable C's receive B value. C/D/E acro, D/E dance and all other C/D/E bar elements are restricted: -0.50 from SV and no VP/SR credit.

No skills above C.

Required elements (beam)

Tick the ones your routine includes. The checker can't tell from a skill list; your coach can.

Bonus

No bonus opportunities listed for Level 7.

10.0 SV when all special requirements and value parts are met. Not eligible for bonus or Composition Credit. Floor: one salto (forward or backward) must be stretched with no twist and land on two feet.

This checker does not work out a start value. Special requirements, connection value and bonus rules have more detail than a skill list can show, so ask your coach or check the current USAG Code of Points for the full picture.

What are value parts in gymnastics?

Value parts are the skills in an optional routine that count toward the level's difficulty requirement. Each one is rated with a difficulty letter, starting at A for the easiest. Each optional Development Program level (6 to 10) and each Xcel division asks for a set number of them per event, such as 4A + 3B at Level 7, and limits how hard those skills can be.

How the checker works

  1. Pick the level and event (bars, beam or floor).
  2. Type each skill in the routine. When the name is in Stickd's USAG value table, its letter fills in (marked “USAG table”); otherwise pick the letter your coach gives it. You can change any skill's letter after adding it.
  3. The checker counts the skills by letter and compares them with the level's requirement. A higher-value skill can fill a lower-value slot, so a C can count toward a B. Skills above the level's listed maximum are flagged and left out of the count.
  4. Tick off the level's required elements for that event yourself. The checker can't tell whether a skill list meets them.

It does not work out a start value. Your list is saved in this browser so you can come back to it. Vault is left out because a vault is a single skill rather than a routine of value parts.

Value-part requirements by level

Per event. Levels 6-10 use the 2026-30 USAG Development Program cheat sheets; Xcel uses the Xcel Code of Points. The highest-letter and difficulty notes are Stickd's summary of the codes.

Value parts required per event at each optional and Xcel level

Level 64A+2BBA and B elements. Bars: ONE of the selected C circles to handstand (clear hip, stalder or pike sole circle backward to HS) is allowed; no flight/release elements between bars. Beam and floor: ONE C dance element is allowed. Allowable C's receive B value. Any other C and all D/E elements are restricted: -0.50 from SV and no VP/SR credit.
Level 74A+3BCA and B elements. Bars: any number of the selected C's (cast to HS with ½ turn; clear hip, stalder or pike sole circle backward to HS, including with ½ turn to regular grip). Additional C acro/bar elements and all D/E elements are restricted: -0.50 from SV and no VP/SR/CC credit.
Level 93A+4B+1CEA, B and C elements, and all D/E dance elements. ONE restricted D/E acro element (beam/floor) or D/E bar element (bars) is allowed, in chronological order; allowable D/E's receive C value, and only the first D/E is eligible for DV bonus. Any additional D/E acro/bar element is restricted: -0.50 from SV and no VP/SR/CC credit.

Xcel Bronze4AAOnly allowable A elements (floor: no saltos or aerials, max two flight skills; beam: no walkovers or salto/aerial dismounts; bars: no salto dismounts, high bar skills or low bar giants). A few B dance elements receive A credit (beam: cross split jump, cross straddle jump, split leap; floor: side leap, straddle jump). Xcel Diamond5A+2BDA, B and C elements plus ONE D element (no bonus for the D). E elements or a second D = restricted (-0.50 from SV, no VP/SR credit). Must include at least 2 B VPs.

Levels 1 to 5 are compulsory: the routine is set by USAG, so there are no value parts to count.

Frequently asked questions

What are value parts in gymnastics?
Value parts are the skills in an optional routine that count toward the level's difficulty requirement. Each one is rated with a difficulty letter, starting at A for the easiest, and each optional or Xcel level asks for a set number of them on bars, beam and floor.
How many value parts does Level 7 need?
USAG's 2026-30 Level 6-8 cheat sheet lists Level 7 as 4A + 3B per event. Stickd's summary gives C as the highest letter listed. Confirm the details with your coach and the current USAG Code of Points.
What are the Xcel Gold value-part requirements?
The Xcel Code of Points lists Xcel Gold as 6A per event. A and allowable B elements (bars: no B giants or B releases with bar change; floor: no B twisting saltos). C and higher = restricted (-0.50 from SV, no VP/SR credit). Each event also has required elements, which the checker lists for bars, beam and floor.
Do compulsory levels have value parts?
No. Levels 1 to 5 are compulsory: USAG prescribes the routine, so every gymnast performs the same skills and there are no value parts to count. The checker shows the elements in each compulsory routine instead.
Does the checker give me a start value?
No. It checks the value-part count and the difficulty limit only. Special requirements, connection value and bonus have more detail than a skill list can show, so your coach and the current USAG Code of Points are the places to confirm a start value.
