What is a mobility score in gymnastics?
A mobility score is a minimum all-around score USA Gymnastics sets for moving up a level. Check the current Rules & Policies for your level, because the number and the rules for earning it can change from season to season.
A qualifying score works the same way for championship meets. To compete at a state or regional meet, a gymnast needs a set all-around score from sanctioned meets during the season. Your coach will know which number applies to your gymnast this season.
How to use the tracker
- Clear the example season, then enter your target all-around score.
- After each meet, add the meet name, date and the four event scores from the score sheet.
- Read the summary: season best, average, how many meets reached the target, and how far the average is from it.
- Check the by-event table. It shows the per-event average you need (the target divided by four) and how each event compares with that.
- Export a CSV to keep a copy or share it with your coach.
How the all-around score is calculated
The all-around (AA) score is the four event scores added together: vault + bars + beam + floor. With a 10.0 maximum on each event, the AA maximum is 40.0. A gymnast with 8.600 on vault, 8.250 on bars, 8.400 on beam and 8.750 on floor has an AA of 34.000.
Dividing the target by four gives the average each event needs. A target of 34.000 means 8.500 per event on average. Events do not need to hit that number individually: a strong floor score can cover a lower bars score. The "most room" label marks the event with the lowest average, the one furthest from 10.0. It is a simple heuristic. Your coach can tell you which tenths are easiest to earn back.
Frequently asked questions
What is a mobility score in gymnastics?
A mobility score is a minimum all-around score USA Gymnastics sets for moving up a level. The number depends on the level and can change between seasons, so check the current USA Gymnastics Rules & Policies for your level, or ask your coach.
What score do I need to qualify for state or regionals?
Championship meets such as state and regionals have a qualifying all-around score that a gymnast must earn at sanctioned meets during the season. The score and the rules around it are set by USA Gymnastics and your state or region, and they vary by level and season. Your coach or the current Rules & Policies will have the exact number.
How is the all-around score calculated?
The all-around score is the sum of the four event scores: vault, bars, beam and floor. Each event has a maximum of 10.0, so the highest possible all-around is 40.0. The tracker adds the four scores and rounds to three decimals.
Where is my data saved?
Your meets are saved in this browser, on this device. Nothing is sent to Stickd. Use Export CSV to keep a copy or move it to another device. Clearing your browser data removes the saved meets.
Are the tracker's numbers official?
No. The tracker only does math on the scores you enter. The judges' scores at sanctioned meets are the official ones, and mobility and qualifying decisions follow USA Gymnastics rules. Stickd is a practice aid.
